Noctids
What is a Noctid
Noctids are people bound to the supernatural — not just believers or dabblers, but individuals changed by their contact with forces beyond the ordinary.
You’ve heard of cryptids — Bigfoot, Mothman, shadowy figures seen in the woods.
Now imagine if some of them used to be human. Or worse: still are.
Noctids aren’t folklore.
They’re walking, breathing anomalies — recognised by scientists, tracked by governments, and quietly erased from public knowledge. The average person has no idea they exist. That’s no accident.
Definition
The term Noctid was coined by the scientific community to categorise people with an observable connection to supernatural entities or energies. This link warps how they think, feel, and function. It’s not always visible — but it’s always there.
Unlike cryptids, who are usually treated as mythological creatures, Noctids are human-adjacent. Flesh and blood. But touched by something else. Something uncanny.

Known Sub-Groups
Scientists and field agents often classify Noctids by type. These aren’t costumes or fantasy — they’re archetypes based on repeated patterns:
-
Werewolves – Shapeshifters, usually tied to lunar cycles. Primal. Dangerous when triggered.
-
Vampires – Predatory immortals who feed on blood and shun the sun. Not all of them are monsters — some pass for normal.
-
Demons – Individuals with direct infernal ties. They don't just see spirits — they channel them.
-
Zombies – Reanimated dead. Often reduced mentally, but not always mindless. Sometimes... they're aware.
Common Signs
Noctids aren’t all the same, but many display:
-
Heightened senses – sound, smell, even emotional sensitivity
-
Physiological anomalies – irregular heart rhythms, altered brain activity
-
Psychological disturbances – mood swings, intense intuition, or the sense of “otherness”
-
Recurring supernatural events – hauntings, possessions, lucid visions, unexplainable phenomena
Some handle it. Others break. A few... vanish completely.

How the Game Works
Daylight lies. Nighttime hunts
In Noctids, the village may look quaint — but someone isn’t who they say they are. Maybe no one is.
The game unfolds across a series of Day/Night cycles.
-
By day, villagers chat, argue, vote, and try to keep the peace.
-
By night, secrets unfold in the dark: Noctids strike, witches meddle with fate, and hunters try to hold the line.
Each cycle drives the story forward. Who lives, who dies, who vanishes without explanation — all depends on choices made in whispers and shadows.
Secrets Are Everything
Noctids is built on hidden roles, private actions, and public suspicion.
-
You might be a priest rallying the village with sermons.
-
Or a vampire biding your time.
-
Or just a confused villager trying to figure out who the hell brought a zombie into town.
No one knows who’s on which side — not even your friends. Especially not your friends.
Every Village is Different
Noctids is flexible by design. Whether you’re playing in-person, online, in an office, a pub, or a forest clearing under the moon —
-
The setting,
-
The scenario,
-
The type of Noctids,
-
And even the tone — from grim gothic to absurd comedy —can all be tailored to fit your group.
From the very first sunrise, the game is yours to shape.
